Account Deletion Policy

This Account Deletion Policy explains how you can delete your Ikytask account and what happens to your data when you do.
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your Ikytask account at any time using the in-app deletion feature:
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open the Ikytask app on your device
- Navigate to the Other menu (bottom navigation or settings)
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Read the confirmation warning carefully
- Confirm your decision to proceed with deletion
Important Prerequisite
CRITICAL: Check Your Subscription Status First
Before deleting your account, verify whether you have an active Premium subscription:
If you have an active subscription:
- Deleting your account will NOT cancel your subscription
- Apple will continue charging you even after your account is deleted
- You MUST cancel your subscription separately through the App Store
- We recommend cancelling your subscription BEFORE deleting your account
To check and cancel your subscription:
- Open your device's App Store app
- Tap your profile icon at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Look for Ikytask Premium
- If active, tap Cancel Subscription to stop future charges
Why this matters:
- Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not your Ikytask account
- Account deletion and subscription cancellation are completely separate processes
- Apple manages subscription billing independently from our app
- There are no refunds for unused subscription time
Alternative Method: Email Request
If you are unable to access the app or encounter technical issues, you can request account deletion via email:

Include: The email address associated with your Ikytask account
We will process email deletion requests within 7 business days.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account
Immediate Actions (Within Minutes)
When you confirm account deletion:
- Your account is deactivated immediately
- You are signed out on all devices
- Your account becomes inaccessible - you cannot sign in
- All your tasks, notes, and personal data are marked for deletion in our database
- Your authentication tokens are revoked
- Your Premium subscription (if any) remains active and continues to bill through Apple
Complete Data Deletion (Within 30 Days)
Your data removal occurs in two phases:
Phase 1 - Active Database (Immediate):
- Personal information (email, name)
- All tasks and task-related content
- Account preferences and settings
- Authentication data and session tokens
- Push notification tokens
Phase 2 - Infrastructure Backups (Within 30 Days):
- Database backups maintained by our cloud provider (Supabase) are automatically rotated and expired
- All traces of your data are completely removed from backup systems
- This 30-day period is determined by our infrastructure provider's backup retention policies
Data That May Be Retained
The following data may be retained even after account deletion, where permitted or required by law:
Anonymized Analytics Data:
- Aggregated usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you personally
- No personally identifiable information is retained in analytics
Legal and Regulatory Requirements:
- Transaction records for tax and accounting purposes (if you made purchases)
- Data required to be retained under applicable laws
- Information necessary for fraud prevention or legal proceedings
Apple/Google Account Data:
- Your Apple ID or Google account remains unaffected
- We do not control or delete your authentication provider accounts
Important Warnings
Account Deletion is Permanent
This action cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted:
- You will lose access to all your tasks and data
- You cannot recover your account or data
- If you sign up again with the same email or social account, a new account will be created
- Your previous data will not be restored
Subscriptions Are Managed by Apple, Not Ikytask
CRITICAL: Deleting your Ikytask account does NOT cancel your Premium subscription.
How Apple Subscriptions Work:
- Your Premium subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not your Ikytask account
- Apple manages all subscription billing independently
- Even if you delete your Ikytask account, Apple will continue charging you
- You must cancel your subscription separately through the App Store
To Cancel Your Subscription:
- Open the App Store app on your device
- Tap your profile icon at the top right
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find Ikytask Premium in the list
- Tap Cancel Subscription
- Confirm the cancellation
Important Notes:
- Cancelling your subscription does not delete your Ikytask account
- Deleting your Ikytask account does not cancel your subscription
- These are two completely separate actions managed by different systems
- No refunds are provided for unused subscription time
- If you delete your account but forget to cancel your subscription, you will continue to be charged until you manually cancel through the App Store
Social Sign-In Accounts Are Not Affected
Deleting your Ikytask account does not:
- Delete your Apple ID
- Delete your Google account
- Affect any other apps using these authentication methods
What You Can Do Instead of Deletion
If you're considering account deletion, here are some alternatives:
Cancel Subscription Only (Recommended if Cost is an Issue)
If the subscription cost is a concern:
- Cancel your Premium subscription through the App Store
- Keep your free Ikytask account with your data intact
- You can always resubscribe later if needed
- Your tasks and data remain safe and accessible
This is often better than account deletion because:
- You stop being charged immediately
- You don't lose your tasks and data
- You can return anytime without starting over
Pause Usage
Simply stop using the app without deleting your account:
- Your data will remain safe and accessible if you return
- No action needed - just don't open the app
- If you have a subscription, remember to cancel it to stop charges
Export Your Data First
Before deleting, you can request a copy of your data:
- Contact us at projectikeapp@gmail.com
- Request a data export under your GDPR rights
- We will provide your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV)
- Then you can safely delete your account knowing you have a backup

Your Data Rights
Even before account deletion, you have the right to:

After Deletion: Re-Registration
If you delete your account and later decide to use Ikytask again:
- You can create a new account using the same email or social sign-in
- This will be treated as a completely new account
- None of your previous data will be restored
- You will start with a blank slate
- Any previous Premium subscription history does not carry over to the new account
Important Subscription Note:
- If you had a Premium subscription and forgot to cancel it before deleting your account:
- Apple may still be charging you
- Creating a new account does NOT give you Premium features (subscription is tied to the old, deleted account)
- You need to cancel the old subscription through App Store settings
- Then subscribe again with your new account if you want Premium features

Reminder: If you're deleting your account because of subscription costs, remember you can simply cancel your subscription through the App Store and keep using the free version of Ikytask.

- Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
